In a highly spirited move, women in Pakwach District added their voices to the global celebration of International Women’s Day, which took place on March 8, 2025.

While International Women’s Day was celebrated worldwide, Uganda marked the occasion in Kyankwanzi District under the campaign theme ‘Accelerate Action for Gender Equality, with blessings from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

As part of the West Nile subregion, Pakwach District has been undergoing various economic and social reforms, leading to increased recognition for women and girls on the national stage. During the commemoration, women in Pakwach District expressed their gratitude towards President Museveni for providing women with platforms in the political, social, and economic spheres, helping many women achieve their dreams.

However, women in Jonam Constituency voiced their dissatisfaction with the current representation of their area by a member of parliament from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). One patriot from Jonam emphasized, “We have lost many opportunities because we are seen as an opposition stronghold, while all privileges are within the ruling NRM party.”

In response, the women of Jonam Constituency have vowed to endorse and vote for Hon. Epiphany Beracan to represent their voices in the 12th Parliament from 2026 to 2031. Hon. Epiphany Berocan has served in various roles, including as a Commissioner in the Ministry of Finance, which highlights his commitment and patriotism to serving his country.

Known for his outstanding integrity and honesty, Berocan has made significant contributions that have benefited the nation.

The people of Jonam believe that now is the right time for an NRM member, Hon. Epiphany, to represent their constituency in the national legislature. Reports from Jonam Constituency indicate that Beracan has initiated several development projects in the area, including a hospital that serves the entire Pakwach District.

With much more yet to be revealed, Berocan remains the best NRM candidate who can end opposition influence in Jonam Constituency and elevate Pakwach District to the national stage for greater development.
