The road to the Maruzi North MP seat is likely to be smoother for Bernard Otim Odoch, who is set to go unopposed under the NRM ticket in the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2026.
In a related political development, Otim is highly regarded in Maruzi North for his dedicated service to the people.
NRM party members have expressed their commitment to supporting Otim, with many vowing not to waste time on primaries, as they have already identified him as the most competent candidate.
According to Bosco Okello, a 74-year-old resident of Maruzi North, Otim Odoch, a lawyer by profession, is the preferred NRM candidate for people across all age groups.
Okello highlighted Otim’s continuous efforts to improve the livelihoods of young people through various donations, which have earned him widespread support from both the elderly and youth in the area.
Water Okello, a resident of Atopi Parish, Apac Sub-county, promised to mobilize the youth to support Otim Odoch in the 2026 general elections. He emphasized that there would be no need for NRM primaries in Maruzi North, as Otim Bernard is the only capable aspirant. “We cannot allow anyone else to contest for the NRM ticket for Maruzi North, because Otim Bernard is the only person we know as a capable candidate. He has served the community wholeheartedly, and there will be no NRM primaries except for him,” Okello stated.
Meanwhile, Mary Adoko from Adem in Chegere Sub-county shared how the women of Chegere have already made up their minds to support Otim Bernard. “Mr. Otim Bernard has been with us through difficult times. He has always supported us, sending assistance for burials, repairing our boreholes, and helping our youth. We will not allow anyone to disturb him during the primaries or oppose him,” Adoko said.
The NRM party flag for Maruzi North was previously held by Okot Patrick Chono. Joram Aboce, a youth leader, commended Otim Odoch for consistently implementing the major NRM principles and for his bottom-to-top approach, ensuring that no one is left behind.
