Nancy Anek Obita, a vibrant and long-serving NRM cadre, has declared her intention to contest for the Agago District Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections. The former Vision Group News Editor and former contestant for the Agago County MP seat has reiterated her unwavering support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and vowed to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Agago NRM party primaries.

Anek Obita, who aims to run under the NRM ticket in the 2026 general elections, will face off with several candidates, including Minister Akori Beatrice, the State Minister of Economic Monitoring, in the race to represent Agago District as Woman MP in the 12th Parliament.

In her campaign, Anek promised to be accountable to the people of Agago, pledging to support women, men, youth, orphans, and all groups without discrimination. She emphasized her commitment to delivering results through notable and service-oriented initiatives, with a focus on uniting the people of Agago District toward long-term development and wealth creation via socio-economic transformation.

Nancy, still an active member of the NRM, vowed to adhere to the NRM party Constitution and principles, focusing on the development of Agago District in line with the NRM ideology.

As a leader, Anek’s actions and words reflect her character. She understands that people closely observe leaders to gauge their integrity. When challenges arise, she faces them head-on, dealing with the facts as they are and constantly striving for improvement. She is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of NRM supporters in Agago District.

“Key on my agenda is addressing the security challenges at the border points, especially in areas like Omiya Pacwa, Paimol, Wol, Lira Kato, Lapono, Akwat, Adilang, and other sub-counties, where Karamojong cattle rustlers continue to disturb our people,” said Anek.

Her focus is also on promoting unity and ensuring equal resource distribution across all the sub-counties in Agago District. She advocates for transparency in employment opportunities, better health services, improved education standards, and uplifting the youth from poverty. Additionally, she is committed to ensuring effective legislation at the parliamentary level.

Anek emphasized that she will balance development projects across all sub-counties, including scholarships, road rehabilitation, student sponsorship, and the establishment of NRM Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) in Agago District.

She also commended President Yoweri Museveni for his commendable work in wealth creation and his nationwide tours, which have built confidence among the people.

At the moment, Nancy is in the final stages of her consultations in various town councils and sub-counties within Agago District. She is confident of winning the Agago Woman MP NRM party primaries and the 2026 general elections.

Agago District, located in East Acholi, consists of three constituencies: Agago North, Agago County, and Agago West.

Meanwhile, Anek is seen as the best candidate for the seat, given her reputation as a dedicated NRM mobilizer. She is well-positioned to implement the NRM manifesto and has a strong connection with the people of Agago District at all levels.
