Omara Joe Makim stood before a crowd of his fellow citizens, ready to deliver a message of hope, unity, and transformation. With the upcoming party primary elections on the horizon, Makim, a son of the soil, was making his case to the people of Kioga County as a candidate for Member of Parliament under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Message to the People of Amolatar and Lango Sub-Region:
Hello, my people of Amolatar and the entire Lango Sub-Region,
I send you warm greetings of patriotism.
My name is Omara Joe Makim, a true son of the soil, born and raised in Amolatar. I am proudly contesting for the position of Member of Parliament for Kioga County under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in the upcoming party primary elections.
As a firm believer in the NRM’s ideological foundation, I proudly uphold its four core principles:
-
Patriotism
-
Pan-Africanism
-
Democracy
-
Socio-Economic Transformation
Fellow citizens of Amolatar, the time has come for us to rise, make bold decisions, and carry the mantle of responsibility for the sake of our communities. I have offered myself to lead not for personal gain, but because I believe in the untapped potential of our people and the rich resources of our district.
Yet, Amolatar is in crisis. We can no longer remain silent. It is now time to exercise our power and commitment through a free and fair election of an MP who is fully focused on shaping the future of the people of Amolatar District.
The Challenges We Face:
Our health facilities are in a sorrowful state—lacking drugs, medical staff, and basic equipment. Even expectant mothers continue to suffer, even when leaders are present. Uplifting health centers to a better standard is among our top priorities.
Our schools are failing, especially in academic performance, which is steadily declining. Our children are not being equipped to compete in the modern world with higher education standards, as seen in other parts of the country. Therefore, as Omara, I believe it is our time to uplift the standard of education by electing capable leaders who are exposed, well-rounded, and able to effectively lobby for improvements—especially in educational infrastructure and learning tools.
Our roads are in a deplorable condition. During the rainy season, movement becomes nearly impossible—yet we continue to pay taxes.
Youth unemployment is escalating in Amolatar District. Our young people are idle, frustrated, and desperate for skills and opportunities. It is time to equip the youth with skills and support income-generating projects and activities.
These are not just challenges—they are a call to action. The people of Amolatar deserve better. We deserve dignity, service, and hope.
My Vision and Commitment:
If elected, I will:
-
Legislate appropriate laws that serve the interests of our people
-
Perform oversight to hold the government accountable
-
Scrutinize budget proposals to ensure taxpayer funds are used effectively
Moreover, I will advocate for our district in all national matters to ensure that Amolatar gets its fair share of the national cake.
My slogan, “Tic Pi Atedero,” meaning “Working for the Last Man at the Grassroots,” is not just a campaign message—it is my commitment. I believe in inclusive leadership that puts the ordinary person first, regardless of religion, party, or background.
A Call to Action:
I already have developmental projects in the pipeline that will benefit all the people of Amolatar, and I will officially launch them this coming month.
As we head into the NRM party primaries, I call upon all men and women, the youth and elders, and people from every corner of Amolatar under the NRM to rally behind me and give me your full support. The challenges we face affect all of us. They know no party, tribe, or religion. They require bold, transparent, people-centered leadership.
Let us unite. Let us rebuild hope, restore dignity, and reimagine a better future for Kioga County.
Thank You All,
Omara Joe Makim
