Kisoro, Uganda – The Member of Parliament for Bufumbira North, John Nizeyimana Kamara, has fulfilled a key 2021 election promise by distributing farming tools to every household in his constituency.
This initiative, which began today in Nyarubuye Sub-county and Rukundo Town Council, aims to bolster agricultural productivity, combat poverty, and enhance food security within the area.
A total of 13,500 farming tools were distributed, comprising 7,000 forked hoes and 6,500 regular hoes. The distribution event was overseen by Ndiyibwaara Ernest Buchokori, the LC3 Chairperson of Nyarubuye Sub-county, who represented Hon. Kamara.
Buchokori reiterated that the initiative is a testament to Kamara’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of his constituents.
He further emphasized that the tools were distributed universally, reaching all households regardless of age, gender, or religious affiliation, underscoring a collective push towards poverty eradication and increased food security.
Local leaders present at the event, including Nkundiyera Siliva, Nteziyaremye Lauben, and Sekabanza Augustine, lauded the intervention, expressing confidence that the new tools will significantly boost food security and could even help mitigate instances of domestic violence often linked to disputes over farming equipment.
Beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to Hon. Kamara for honoring his pledge, highlighting the anticipated positive impact this initiative will have on their farming activities and overall well-being.
