Kampala, Uganda – Stanbic Bank has officially joined Kampala Restaurant Week 2025
as the official payment partner, bringing on board its innovative FlexiPay platform which
offers, convenience, and exclusive rewards for one of the city’s most anticipated
culinary events.
The partnership underscores the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting local
industries while offering seamless digital payment solutions that elevate customer
experiences.
Speaking at the launch at Aldea Restaurant in Kololo, Salim Kitagenda, Head of Products at Stanbic Bank Uganda, underscored the vital role of food in driving economic growth and cultural unity. “Ladies and gentlemen, one person said that ‘Indeed somebody cannot think well, neither can they sleep well or laugh well, if they have not dined well’. Food is very important to us as a people because it is a foundation of happiness,” he said.
He said, “That is why if you want to describe a country, a culture, you define it by the
people and the food in that country.”
As part of its involvement in the festival, Stanbic Bank is spotlighting its FlexiPay
platform a simple, fast, and secure way to make payments across all participating
restaurants during the event.
Kitagenda emphasized the ease FlexiPay brings to dining experiences. “For Stanbic,
there is nothing much easier than just swiping your card and then you finish paying. And
so, for this Kampala Restaurant Week, we are giving a 10% discount cash back for
every time you swipe to actually pay,” he said.
He said the bank is committed to ensuring no one misses the opportunity to enjoy the
event because of limited cash. “FlexiPay, which is a very convenient solution from our
side, has lending where you can actually just go and get a top-up,” Kitagenda said.
He also highlighted the platform’s ability to support users in real-time and in addition
spoke of the benefits of using the Stanbic Bank credit card. “It is the best thing that can
happen to anyone,” he said, “because it offers money for free for up to 55 days without
interest,” he said.
Stanbic Bank’s involvement in Kampala Restaurant Week reflects its broader vision not
just as a financial leader, but as a community partner that believes in the power of
shared experiences.
Kitagenda said, “By supporting Uganda’s dynamic hospitality industry and encouraging
a culture of enjoyment and togetherness, Stanbic continues to invest in the everyday
joys that bring people closer one meal, one swipe, and one unforgettable moment at a
time.”
