LIRA, Uganda – There was palpable excitement at the NRM Head Offices in Kampala on Monday as Senior Presidential Advisor for Lango zone, Hon. Sam Engola, picked up the expression of interest form to contest for a significant Central Executive Committee (CEC) position within the National Resistance Movement.
Hon. Sam Engola, a seasoned NRM historical with a tremendous and proven track record within the party, enjoys widespread popularity among top party figures. This strong support has led many to endorse his bid for the key position of NRM party’s Regional Vice Chairperson for the Northern region – a role he previously served with distinction, leaving a lasting impact.
With numerous leaders backing his CEC candidacy, delegates across the country are eagerly anticipating the imminent Delegates Conference to cast their votes for him.
The preferred Regional Vice Chairperson for the Northern Region, Hon. Sam Engola, has seen a drastic increase in support recently across the Acholi, Lango, and West Nile sub-regions, as well as in the Eastern, Western, and Central regions, with more than double the expected backing.
Engola is also a duly nominated candidate for MP Erute South Constituency, now preparing for the NRM primaries, where he will face some of his junior colleagues vying for the NRM flag.
Engola was among the few NRM historical figures who tirelessly endeavored and struggled to convert Northern Uganda’s opposition members to the NRM during challenging times in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Speaking to his supporters, he congratulated President Museveni on the advancements in wealth creation among the Wananchi and the socio-economic transformation witnessed in Uganda.
