A recent online poll conducted by Ug Diplomat suggests that Eng. Jonard Asiimwe is currently the frontrunner in the race for NRM CEC Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda.
According to the poll results, Asiimwe garnered 317 votes, followed by Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi with 44 votes, and Duncan Abigaba in third place.
The poll was conducted on social media platforms, specifically within a WhatsApp group of politically engaged users.
Eng. Jonard Asiimwe and Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi have both been officially nominated to contest for the NRM Vice Chairperson position on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the Western Region.
Asiimwe recently declared his candidacy for the 2025–2030 term under the theme “The People’s Choice.” Supporters have commended him for his practical and inclusive leadership style, describing him as a vital link between the party’s vision and the everyday needs of its supporters.
His campaign aligns with the NRM’s strategy of promoting dynamic and grassroots-oriented leaders who can uphold the party’s legacy while steering it toward modernization and future relevance.
The role of NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda is considered one of the most influential within the party’s regional structure. It involves critical responsibilities such as mobilization, conflict resolution, and policy advocacy at the grassroots level.
