Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Lango Zone, Hon. Sam Engola, has emerged the winner in a landslide in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries, securing the party’s nomination for the upcoming parliamentary elections for Erute South.

The primaries, held on July 17, 2025, were declared by the NRM District Registrar of Lira District.

Mr. Sam Engola garnered broad support from party members in the Erute South constituency.
In his victory speech, he expressed gratitude for the confidence shown by voters and committed to continuing his efforts to promote development and improve the welfare of Erute South. “I am honored to receive the NRM nomination and will work tirelessly to represent our people and fulfill our promises,” he stated.

The primaries represent a crucial step toward the general elections, with political analysts predicting another win for the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Region, given his experience and popularity in the region.

As the campaign season kicks off, all eyes will be on Hon. Sam Engola as he prepares to face opposition candidates in the race for the Erute South County parliamentary seat, as well as another position in the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Abdul George claimed that the election was not free and fair, alleging that his supporters faced intimidation during the process.

Moses Okello, the NRM District Registrar for Lira District, announced the official results, confirming that Sam Engola received more votes than Abdul George in a landslide victory.
