St. Paul’s Mutolere Senior Secondary School is set to undergo major renovations in the 2025/2026 financial year, funded by the World Bank through the Government of Uganda. The development aims to restore the school’s historic legacy and boost academic performance.
The announcement was made by the school’s head teacher, Mr. Charles Mbonyebyombi, during the 65th St. Paul’s Day celebrations held in the school’s main hall under the theme “United in Faith, Committed to Excel.” The theme emphasized the importance of emulating the life and teachings of Saint Paul.
Mr. Mbonyebyombi revealed that he had recently received a letter from the Ministry of Education requesting the school to submit land titles in its name, a necessary step to unlock the full World Bank funding. The renovations will include improvements to classrooms, dormitories, staff quarters, computer laboratories, and other school infrastructure, with some work expected to begin in the current financial year.
He praised the Ministry for the initiative, noting that the renovations are expected to significantly increase student enrollment and improve academic outcomes.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Rt. Col. Tadeo Hatega Haguma, and the Vice Chairperson of the Old Students’ Association, Major Paul Tumukunde, welcomed the renovation plan as a key move toward revitalizing the school’s performance and discipline.
The Guest of Honour, Professor Martin Mbonye, advised students to uphold discipline and resist negative peer pressure. He encouraged the school community to embody the values taught by Saint Paul. As a show of support, Professor Mbonye donated UGX 2 million toward the renovation project.
Rev. Joseph Sebatware, Dean of Mutolere Denary, commended the collaborative efforts of old students, parents, teachers, and learners in organizing and supporting the St. Paul’s Day event.
In total, over UGX 7.6 million was raised by well-wishers, alumni, and the Mutolere Parish community to support the school’s academic fund initiative.
