The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), under the leadership of veteran opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye, is grappling with serious financial challenges as the 2026 general elections draw closer.
Besigye has reportedly directed party leaders and aspiring candidates in Kisoro District to fund their own campaigns, pointing to a lack of donors and the party’s empty coffers.
But behind the scenes, fresh cracks have emerged within the PFF top leadership. Reports indicate that Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago are bickering over **Shs2 billion** said to have been secretly received from a former FDC member who is now a senior government official.
According to insiders, Lukwago is furious after discovering that Ssemujju allegedly chose to keep quiet and pocket the funds instead of channeling them toward party activities.
The row has sparked heated debate among members, further exposing the financial strain and internal mistrust threatening to derail the PFF’s preparations for the 2026 elections.
