The Territorial Police in the Aswa West Region have reeavele wny they blocked NUP presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi yesterday from campaigning in Elegu.
According to Mudongo David, the Police Spokesperson in the area, this was done after Bobi Wine allegedly diverted from the agreed campaign venue.
According to police, the incident happened on 5th December 2025, when Kyagulanyi’s team attempted to abandon the designated rally location and head towards the Elegu border.
“We blocked him after he defied the venue designated for his campaign rally,” said a police spokesperson. “He and his team abruptly attempted to divert and proceed to the Elegu border instead.”
Police say they intervened to ensure that the candidate adheres to what had been agreed upon.
“We have stopped him from continuing in that direction and advised him to stick to the venue earlier agreed upon between his organising committee and other stakeholders,” the spokesperson added.
Authorities maintain that their actions were intended to keep the campaign process orderly and in line with prior arrangements.
The aspiring presidential candidate was slated to campaign in Nwoya and Amuria districts with Elegu being located in the later. However, this is not the first time that Bobi Wine is clashing with security forces in grounds of changing a designated venue.
This has previously happened in almost all the regions he has been canvassing votes in with the most notable one being in Bunyoro. He will today be campaigning in Gulu city and Adjumani.
