The Rubanda District Council on December 19 unanimously approved a five-member District Land Board aimed at addressing persistent land cases and disputes in the district.

The board was presented to council by the LC5 Chairperson, Mr. Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, and will be chaired by Mr. Jimmy Musime.

While addressing councillors, Mr. Kasyaba noted that Rubanda District has for years grappled with numerous land disputes largely due to the absence of a functional District Land Board. He also emphasized the need for government lawyers to effectively defend the district’s interests in land-related matters.

Approved Members of the District Land Board:

  1. Jimmy Musime – Chairperson
  2. Mr. Mutabazi Demiano – Member
  3. Ms. Abomugisha Mary – Member
  4. Mr. Byamugisha Vanancio – Member
  5. Mrs. Namara Cylia – Member

Meanwhile, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Martin Turyagyenda, cautioned against any attempts to disrupt the forthcoming January elections. He revealed that security agencies have received intelligence reports regarding suspicious meetings involving outsiders.

Mr. Turyagyenda said security has been placed on high alert and warned that unnecessary vehicle movements will be restricted during the election period to ensure peace and order across the district.
