Kiryandongo PDM SACCO Chairperson Remanded Over Alleged Fraud

Authorities in Kiryandongo District have arrested and charged a local SACCO leader accused of extorting money from citizens under false claims of facilitating access to Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.

Nangoti Peter, the Chairperson of Panyadoli PDM SACCO, was apprehended following allegations that he obtained UGX 2,878,400 from 15 individuals by misleading them into believing that payment was required to access government funds.

According to officials from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the suspect was arrested on March 6, 2026, and later presented before court on March 13, 2026, where he was remanded as investigations continue.

“This operation is part of a broader presidential directive to expose and hold accountable individuals exploiting wananchi through fraudulent schemes linked to the PDM,” a statement from the unit said.

Authorities emphasized that no Ugandan is required to pay any money to benefit from the Parish Development Model programme.

“We want to make it clear to all citizens that access to PDM funds is free. Anyone asking for money in exchange is a fraudster and should be reported immediately,” the statement added.

The government reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring that PDM resources reach the rightful beneficiaries without interference or exploitation.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
