A two-week art exhibition named “Ebirungi” commenced with a cocktail party at Latitude 0 Degrees Hotel in Makindye, Kampala, on October 12, 2023. The event saw the participation of numerous artists, including London-based guest artist, designer, and stylist Jose Henda.
Jose Henda encouraged fellow artists to incorporate local materials into their artwork to enhance the storytelling in their pieces.
Henry Kiyingi, an exhibitor and a student from Kyambogo University, expressed his excitement about showcasing his work at the event, considering himself a winner among the applicants who didn’t make the cut. He noted the exhibition’s significance in promoting artists’ work and facilitating interactions with a diverse audience while selling their products.
Grace Nsimbe, an artist, attributed her participation to her unique artistic style. She showcased an art piece at the event that celebrated African women’s culture.
Isabella Asiimwe, representing the organizers, shared that the “Ebirungi” exhibition, focused on promoting local artists, was running for the third time at Latitude 0 Degrees Hotel. She emphasized the selection of artists based on their ability to convey compelling narratives through their artwork.
The event drew a diverse crowd of delegates and art enthusiasts.
