The spokesperson of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, Steven Masiga, has told The Ankole Times by telephone that His Highness the Umukuka’s huge security detail and fleet in Kenya were mistakenly identified by members of the public as the motorcade of President William Ruto.

According to Masiga, crowds in Kitale City kept shouting slogans associated with President Ruto as the convoy passed through the town. President Ruto is expected to contest for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

Masiga, speaking on a lighter note, said many people kept referring to the convoy as either belonging to President Ruto or President Museveni, especially after noticing the Ugandan number plates on some of the vehicles.

His Highness the Umukuka was in Kenya on the invitation of the Bamasaba and Baluhya communities in Kenya, who share strong fraternal and cultural ties with their counterparts in Uganda.

The Umukuka and his entourage were provided with sufficient security by both the Bungoma and Trans Nzoia County governments during their visit
