Hope Restored as Rubanda Launches Construction of New Classroom Block at Neglected Lyamuriro Primary School

Rubanda District authorities, led by LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, have officially launched the construction of a three-classroom block at Lyamuriro Primary School in Kivunga Ward, Nshanjare Town Council, Rubanda West, in a move aimed at reviving one of the district’s most neglected schools.

Lyamuriro Primary School, where Rt. Rev. Emeritus Enoch Kayeeye studied, has for years struggled with dilapidated structures and poor learning conditions. The school is among the three worst-hit schools in the district, alongside Nyamiringa Primary School and Nangalo Primary School, which had long been neglected by previous leaders.

The launch of the classroom block marks a significant milestone in improving education infrastructure in the area, with district leaders describing it as part of Chairman Kasyaba’s commitment to action-oriented leadership and effective service delivery.

Speaking to Ankole Times reporter during the launch, Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba revealed that the Emeritus Bishop, who is also an old boy of the school, personally requested him to support the construction of a classroom block at the institution.

Kasyaba noted that Lyamuriro Primary School had never benefited from a government-constructed building, explaining that all existing structures at the school were built either by the church or through parents’ contributions.

“This school had been forgotten for many years. As leaders, we must ensure that our children study in a better environment,” Kasyaba said.

He also warned parents against allowing children to abandon school in favor of engaging in mining activities, saying education remains the key to a better future.

Kasyaba further disclosed that the district plans to construct another classroom block once the school enrollment increases. Currently, Lyamuriro Primary School has an enrollment of 180 pupils and seven teachers.

The new three-classroom block is being constructed by Epic Fine Services and Contractors Ltd at a cost of Shs 150,449,940.

Residents and local leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a major step toward restoring dignity and improving education standards in the once-neglected school.
