FIRE GUTS ELECTRONICS SHOP IN MBARARA CITY: Owner Left Critically Injured as Blaze Destroys Property

MBARARA CITY — Police in Mbarara City are investigating a fire outbreak that destroyed an electronics shop and left its owner critically injured in the early hours of Monday night.

According to a statement from Rwizi Region Police, the incident occurred at around 10:45pm at Bishop Wills Building along Garage Street in Kakoba Division, Mbarara City.

Fire gutted an electronics shop belonging to Fred on Monday night at around 11:00 p.m. along Bishop Wills Street in Mbarara City, destroying electronic appliances worth millions of shillings.

The fire affected an electronics shop belonging to 55-year-old Fred Tumusiime, a resident of Nyakaizi in Kakoba Division. Fire and Rescue Services were quickly alerted and responded to the scene, managing to extinguish the flames before they could spread to other rooms within the building.

Despite the swift response, the shop was completely destroyed, resulting in total loss of property worth millions of shillings.

Police further reported that Tumusiime was inside the shop when the fire broke out and sustained severe burns. He was rushed to Mbarara Regional Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet established the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.

Rwizi Region Police spokesperson SP Kasasira Samson confirmed the incident and said further updates will be communicated as inquiries continue.
