Another School Bus Crash Leaves Several Students Injured in Kamuli

Kamuli, Uganda  — Several students were injured after a school bus transporting learners from an educational trip collided with a sugarcane truck along the Jinja–Kamuli Road on Thursday night.

The accident occurred at around 10:00 p.m. as students of Nalango Secondary School in Kamuli District were returning from an educational tour in Jinja. The learners were travelling in a school bus belonging to Buzaya Secondary School, registration number UAZ 463F.

According to eyewitnesses, the collision left several students with fractures and other injuries. The victims were rushed to Kamuli General Hospital and Busota Health Centre III for treatment.

By the time of publication, the Uganda Police Force had not issued an official statement confirming the cause of the crash or the exact number of people injured.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over the safety of school trips following a string of road accidents involving buses transporting learners.

Earlier the same day, another school excursion bus carrying pupils of King David Junior School was involved in a fatal crash along the Kapchorwa–Mbale Road, leaving at least 24 children dead and dozens of others injured.

The two accidents have renewed calls for stricter enforcement of school transport safety regulations, particularly regarding night travel and the roadworthiness of vehicles used for educational trips.

Police investigations into the Kamuli crash are ongoing, and more details are expected as authorities continue to assess the scene and establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
