Former champion Joseph Cwinyaai, alongside Titus Okwong, Morris Asaba, and Gary Gonza, have received a sponsorship of $3,500 (sh13.104 million) from Inkozi USA before the commencement of the 82nd Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open Golf Championship at the Uganda Golf Club on Wednesday.

Inkozi USA has also extended additional incentives for the top-performing golfers. Those who finish in the top 5 will receive sponsorship for their participation in amateur events in Uganda for 6 months. The top 10 finishers will be rewarded with Inkozi apparel, food, and gift cards. The package includes six golf shirts, six golf pants, six golf gloves, and 3 dozen golf balls.

Furthermore, winning future local golf events will secure the entry fees for the four sponsored golfers in amateur events in Uganda for the next 12 months, according to a press release from Inkozi. Inkozi USA, a technology company, was founded by Bert Seale, the father of Joshua Seale, the 2016 Uganda Pro Open winner.

Joseph Cwinyaai is set to tee off on Wednesday at 10 am alongside Union president Moses Matsiko, John Basabose, and Sam Kacungira. Cwinyaai expressed his determination with a single line, stating, “Battle Lines have been drawn; let the game begin.”

Titus Okwong, who recently returned to Uganda from North Carolina, expressed his confidence, saying, “The sponsorship gives me confidence going into this tournament.” Okwong had been assisting emerging golfers in Uganda in securing golf scholarships in the USA.

Rumor has it that Jjunju was born with a pencil in his hand and a headline in his heart. From an early age, he displayed a peculiar fascination with headlines, often turning everyday events into front-page sensations. His first words? Not "mama" or "dada," but "breaking news."
