Kasambya County MP and Head of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Chairman’s Office, Daudi Kabanda, has reignited questions surrounding the withdrawal of security personnel attached to Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye after appearing to suggest that he could disclose the circumstances behind the decision.

Kabanda’s latest remarks followed an online exchange with a critic who questioned his earlier comments about Namyalo, the head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), following reports that President Yoweri Museveni had intervened to restore her security detail.

The legislator, who had previously accused Namyalo of illegally occupying the ONC office, was challenged over his position after the reported presidential directive to reinstate her Police Presidential Guard (PPG) officers.

In response, Kabanda appeared to suggest that there was more to the security withdrawal than had publicly been disclosed.

He challenged the critic, asking whether he wanted him to explain why Namyalo’s presidential guards had been withdrawn and replaced with ordinary police officers.

Although Kabanda did not immediately provide further details, his response has triggered renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding the security changes and whether there were internal disagreements over Namyalo’s position.

Reports indicate that Museveni ordered the restoration of Namyalo’s security detail after learning that her presidential guards had been withdrawn on September 29, 2026.

The President reportedly expressed surprise at the decision, saying he had not been informed before the security arrangement was changed. He subsequently directed an investigation into the circumstances that led to the withdrawal.

Kabanda’s remarks have now introduced another dimension to the controversy, particularly because he has suggested that he may know details about the decision that have not yet been made public.

His exchange has also revived questions about the relationship between different political figures operating within the ruling NRM establishment and the PLU, an organisation associated with Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

With political activities and positioning ahead of the 2031 elections continuing to attract attention, the security dispute has become another subject of public interest.

However, Kabanda has yet to publicly provide evidence explaining the reasons behind the withdrawal or identify the individuals responsible for the decision.

Whether he will eventually disclose what he knows remains to be seen.
