Ugandan music star Bebe Cool took London by storm on August 12 with the launch of his new album *Break the Chains* at Masq London, Restaurant and Bar. The glamorous event pulled in more than 100 attendees, including UK-based fans and media personalities from outlets such as BBC, The Beat London, Westside Radio, and Represent Radio.
The night’s host, Olamide Grace of Represent Radio, led an engaging discussion with Bebe Cool, giving fans deeper insight into the album’s message. Bebe Cool described the project as a bold artistic step. “**This album is a journey of me challenging myself to take on what most local artists fear. For a long time, Africans have been made to believe some dreams are not for us. This is me proving otherwise,**” he said.
Break the Chains leans heavily on Afrobeats and features collaborations with top stars including Yemi Alade on *African Love*, DJ Edu on Games*, and Joshua Baraka on *Cheque*. Guests enjoyed the music while sharing drinks, canapés, and conversation in an evening that celebrated creativity and ambition.
Just days after the party, Bebe Cool appeared on DJ AG’s renowned online street show, streamed live on YouTube and TikTok. Known for hosting global icons such as Burna Boy, Will Smith, and Ed Sheeran, the platform gave Bebe Cool a chance to showcase both classics and new tracks. He performed fan favorites like *Fire Anthem* alongside new songs *Hidden Agenda*, *Circumference*, and his collaboration with Baraka.
When asked which artist he’d like to see on the show next, Bebe Cool surprised many by naming Jay-Z. While some Ugandans expected him to highlight a homegrown act, he defended his choice, saying a star of Jay-Z’s caliber would push DJ AG’s platform to even greater heights.
Break the Chains, released on May 30, marks Bebe Cool’s first full album in 10 years. He has already promoted it in Kenya, Tanzania, and the UK, with plans to extend the tour further afield.
