As the NRM primary elections for Members of Parliament draw closer, tension is rising across the country. The massive participation of Ugandans in the ongoing NRM party elections for flag bearers at various levels reflects strong grassroots support for the party.
In Mbarara City, the race for Woman Member of Parliament appears firmly in favor of the incumbent, Hon. Rita Atukwasa, who remains committed to serving her people.
Despite interest from other potential candidates, residents of Mbarara City have remained steadfast in their support, often referring to her as a true servant leader.
Hon. Rita Atukwasa emerged victorious from a hotly contested election in 2021. Since then, she has maintained a strong presence among her constituents, staying actively engaged and accessible.
Having represented Mbarara City effectively in the 11th Parliament, Hon. Atukwasa has earned the trust of the electorate. Her leadership has prioritized healthcare, education, road infrastructure, and electricity access. During her term, several Health Centre IIs in Mbarara City have been upgraded to Health Centre IIIs and IVs.
At her campaign rallies, supporters have encouraged Hon. Atukwasa to remain focused on successfully completing her 2021–2026 term, reassuring her of their unwavering support for the 2026–2031 term.
“We see you as an unopposed candidate,” one voter noted.
Hon. Rita Atukwasa continues to be seen as the ideal candidate to lead Mbarara City toward further development and progress.
