Dokolo, Uganda – Mr. Obura Richard, a prominent businessman and aspiring Member of Parliament for Dokolo South, officially picked his nomination forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party headquarters on Monday.

This move confirms his intention to challenge the incumbent MP, Felix Okot Ogong, for the Dokolo South constituency seat and represent the people of Dokolo in the 12th Parliament in 2026.

Popularly known as “Dokolo NRM Youngblood,” Obura stated that he was the first male aspirant from Dokolo South to pick nomination forms from the NRM headquarters for the upcoming party primaries. He emphasized that his decision to join the race is driven by a desire to offer transformative leadership grounded in practical accountability, efficient service delivery, transparency, and economic empowerment through comprehensive socio-economic transformation and extended wealth creation initiatives.

“As your MP aspirant for Dokolo South, I pledge to uphold the values of honesty, courage, and commitment to building a better future for our community of Dokolo South, both in the NRM party primaries and the general election,” Obura declared. He added, “May the spirit of togetherness, transparency, and hard work touch all of us as we move towards the goal of the 2026 general election.”

Speaking after receiving his forms at the NRM headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Kampala, Obura stated, “The people of Dokolo, I am answering a call to serve. I am a new political force in Dokolo South, a man full of action but few words.

Together, we can unlock the low level of education in Dokolo, improve electricity stability, and build a prosperous future for all the people of Dokolo South and Dokolo District as a whole.”

Obura’s formal declaration follows extensive consultations and a growing grassroots mobilization, particularly among the youth, women, and the business community in Dokolo South. Known to some as the “Political Game Changer,” his entry into the race has reportedly caused a stir among other contestants.

Speaking to The Ankole Times Newspaper, Obura revealed that he has secured five new taxis, a Prado, a pickup, a full music system, and a media van to facilitate his team during the forthcoming NRM party primaries election.

He further stated that he has crafted a comprehensive manifesto for the people of Dokolo, expressing confidence that everything is now set for him to join the 12th Parliament.

Richard Obura is the son of the respected late Mzee Odur Luru, a prominent figure known for his strong leadership background in the Lango Sub-region and Northern Uganda.
