President Yoweri Museveni is set to officially open the newly completed Hoima City Stadium on 24th December 2025, in a landmark event for Ugandan sports.
To mark the occasion, KCCA FC will play Kitara FC in a special opening match. The participation of KCCA FC was nominated by the National Council of Sports (NCS) in collaboration with the Office of the President.
A Modern National Facility
Hoima City Stadium is a state-of-the-art facility with a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators. The stadium was constructed at a cost of USD 129 million, equivalent to about Shs490.2 billion. It meets international standards required to host major football tournaments and other large events.
AFCON 2027 Readiness
The stadium is one of Uganda’s selected venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the country will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania. Its completion is a key step in Uganda’s preparations for the continental tournament and highlights the country’s growing investment in sports infrastructure.
What the Stadium Means
The Hoima City Stadium is expected to:
Promote football and sports development in the Bunyoro region
Boost local business, tourism, and employment
Provide modern facilities for local and international competitions
Strengthen Uganda’s image as a capable host of major sporting events
