The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Director for Mobilisation, Cadre Identification, Recruitment and Placement, Dr. Rosemary Nansubuga Sseninde, has called on party leaders in the Teso sub-region to unite and intensify mobilisation efforts in preparation for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s forthcoming visit.
Leading a high-profile delegation that included NRM Treasurer Hajat Madina and Eastern Region Vice Chairperson Echodu Calvin, Dr. Sseninde met district and sub-county leaders to review mobilisation strategies and strengthen party cohesion ahead of the 2026 elections.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Sseninde urged NRM members to remain loyal to the party, especially those who did not win in the recent primaries. She reminded them that the NRM stands for unity, discipline, and teamwork — values that should not be compromised by internal competition.
“We must not abandon the principles that define our party. True loyalty means standing with the NRM, whether you won or lost,” she said.
She also encouraged the people of Teso to turn up in large numbers to welcome President Museveni, noting that his visit is both a show of appreciation and an opportunity to consolidate support for ongoing government programmes in the region.
Dr. Sseninde cautioned those intending to contest as independents, emphasizing that the party does not endorse such moves and will only rally behind officially endorsed flag bearers. She urged local leaders to dedicate their energies to educating the population about the NRM’s achievements instead of fueling divisions.
In his remarks, Echodu Calvin maintained that although he is running as an independent, his allegiance to the NRM remains firm, describing his move as a personal decision that does not undermine the party’s goals.
Meanwhile, Hajat Madina appealed for teamwork and unity among leaders in Teso, saying this would guarantee overwhelming victory for President Museveni and all NRM candidates.
“If we put aside our internal differences and work together, the NRM will secure over 75 percent of the vote here in Teso,” she said.
On the security front, Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga, Saiga Ibrahim, assured leaders that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful campaigns and a smooth visit by the President.
As the countdown to President Museveni’s visit continues, the Teso sub-region is gearing up for a show of solidarity — with NRM leaders pledging to protect the party’s gains and reinforce its dominance in the area.
