100 Youth in Omoro District Were Trained by UCC on Computer Business

One hundred youths from Omoro district were awarded certificates on Friday after completing a five-day training on information technology and computer business organized by the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) and supported by the Billbrain Institute of Technology. The training took place at Kolstar Hotel in Opit Town Council, Omoro district.

The training aimed to equip youth with skills in ICT and multimedia content, taking a holistic approach to learning to prepare them as market-ready resources for the 21st-century digital global economy.




Tumusiime Dennis, the program organizer for the training under the Billbrain Institute of Technology, explained that the purpose of the training is to enhance youth in the digital global economy, enabling them to brand their products, sell through online marketing, and advertise their businesses globally through computer applications, thereby creating job opportunities for them to become self-reliant.




Some of the youths who attended the training shared their experiences with The Ankole Times, expressing hope to engage in online business.




John Okot, a youth from Bibi Sub County, Omoro district, mentioned that the training provided him with valuable insights into ICT, empowering him to create his own job and sell his products online.

Dinna Apio from Omoro Town Council, Omoro district, highlighted that the training helped her learn how to connect with others globally and conduct business online at any time. With this knowledge, she believes she can achieve self-reliance.

Gravin Okot, Youth Councilor in Omoro district, encouraged youth to invest the knowledge they gained to positively transform their lives.




UCC, in collaboration with the Billbrain Institute of Technology, organized similar training sessions this year in the districts of Agago, Pader, Lira, Apac, and concluded the latest one in Omoro district Yesterday.
