151 Units of Blood Donated During Tarehe Sita Celebrations in Gulu City

At the 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations in Gulu City, a remarkable 151 units of blood were generously donated to the Gulu Regional Blood Bank. The blood donation drive, which took place at the Army Fourth Division Barracks playground, was organized by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in collaboration with the Indian Community in Gulu City and the Gulu Regional Blood Bank.

Flora Akena, a senior nursing officer at the regional blood bank, expressed gratitude for the significant contribution, highlighting its potential to save lives of patients in need of blood transfusion across various health facilities in the region.




Maj. Yero Muhoozi, the Political Commissar at the fourth division barracks, and Sunil Tada, representing the Indian Community, commended the public for their compassion and generosity displayed during the blood donation drive.




The theme of this year’s Tareh Sita celebrations was “Celebrating the People’s Struggle for Unity, Security, and Peace for Socio-Economic Transformation.”




National Celebrations

Simultaneously, national celebrations were held in Busesa, Bugweri district, where President Yoweri Museveni, also the UPDF Commander In Chief, praised Ugandans for embracing the ideas of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), which have facilitated the country’s development.

President Museveni emphasized the significance of combating corruption to further enhance the country’s economic growth, urging citizens to actively participate in the fight against corruption and apathy.
