Kotido, Uganda – A total of 42 police officers serving in Kotido District were decorated with new ranks in a vibrant ceremony held at the Kotido Court Hall, marking one of the most significant police promotion events in the region this year.
The function, presided over by Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Charles Ichogor, brought together senior police officials, officers from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and civilian leaders in a strong display of institutional pride and discipline.
Of the 42 promoted officers, 41 received chevrons, signifying their rise through the non-commissioned ranks, while one officer was elevated to a pip-bearing position, marking their entry into the senior command structure.
“Today is a celebration of discipline, loyalty, and patriotism,” RDC Ichogor said in his keynote address. “Promotions are not ceremonial decorations — they are calls to higher responsibility, better service, and stronger commitment.”
Ichogor also urged the officers to uphold the values of the Uganda Police Force and avoid any misuse of rank or privilege, especially during this election-sensitive season.
He further warned them against alcoholism, urging: “Drink responsibly.”
