The transmission lines that will be constructed as part of this project include the Narok-Bomet, Malindi-Weru, and Kabarnet-Rumuruti lines. In order to facilitate the construction of these lines, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) will temporarily switch off electricity supply on the 132kV double circuit Lessos-Lanet transmission.

In addition to this, the Cabinet, chaired by President William Ruto, also gave its approval for the Supplementary Budget, which includes a 10% reduction in the budgets of various ministries. This move is in line with the government’s efforts to rationalize its budget by cutting unnecessary expenditures, including a substantial reduction in foreign travel expenses, which has been reduced by more than Ksh71 billion.

Furthermore, the Cabinet allocated Ksh4 billion to support coffee farmers, in addition to the Ksh3 billion released earlier. This substantial financial boost will enable coffee farmers to receive an advance payment of Ksh80 per kilogram of cherry, a significant increase from the current rate of Ksh20 per kilogram. The government also intends to explore international markets by inviting renowned coffee dealers, with the aim of revitalizing the Nairobi Coffee Exchange, which has been experiencing low prices and reduced sales at auctions. There have been calls for the government to write off the debts of coffee farmers to further support the sector.

Lastly, the Cabinet ratified the deployment of the National Police Service to Haiti as part of the Multinational Security Support Mission, following the UN Security Council Resolution. This deployment was sanctioned by the National Security Council, and the resolution has been submitted to Parliament for approval, as required by Article 240 of the Constitution.
