Niger’s military leaders have expressed their approval of France’s decision to withdraw its troops from the country by the end of this year. The announcement was made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who also revealed that the French ambassador would be recalled from Niger in the near future.
The statement from Niger’s military rulers came shortly after President Macron’s announcement. In their statement, they described the French troop withdrawal as a significant step towards Niger’s sovereignty. It’s worth noting that these military rulers took control of Niger in late July when they ousted President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26th.
