South African Businessman Killed in Police Shootout at Zimbali Estate

South African Prominent Businessman Fatally Shot in Zimbali Estate in Kwa Zulu Natal Police Confrontation

A well-known businessman from KwaZulu-Natal, Nkululeko Mkhize, was fatally shot, along with another unidentified man, during a police shootout at the luxurious Zimbali Estate. This incident occurred after five people were shot in Richards Bay the day before, which led the police to the Zimbali Estate. Mkhize, who was known for his lavish lifestyle and involvement in government contracts, was considered a formidable figure in the Richards Bay and Empangeni areas. He was often seen giving large sums of money at various events.

There have been allegations suggesting his involvement in certain business circles, particularly in dealings with Transnet and Richards Bay Minerals. During their investigation at the scene, the police discovered six firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. They reported that two suspects lost their lives in the exchange of gunfire.

The ongoing investigation has raised concerns about the presence of criminals within the upscale estate. The estate’s management has been cooperating with law enforcement agencies to address criminal activities. Despite attempts to contact Mkhize’s family, there has been no response so far.
