Agago County MP Hon. David Lagen Atuka Vows To Retain His Seat To Parliament in the 2026 election

The Agago County MP, Hon. Lagen David Atuka, has vowed to return to Parliament, outlining his pro-community approach and contributions while addressing the problems facing members of the community he leads in Agago County during his four years in office.

He was speaking to the media in an exclusive interview on Friday afternoon, detailing why he deserves to be re-elected to the 12th Parliament in 2026. Hon. Lagen David Atuka has become an advocate for youth empowerment, making significant contributions towards supporting hundreds of young people at Patongo Youth Center, where several youths have attained vocational skills and participated in various courses to gain knowledge and skills. MP David has also been providing PLE best-performing students with scholastic materials, among other valuable items.




Notably, he has supported football teams by donating footballs and uniforms for several football clubs. In addition, he has consistently supported the Acholi Province football fans and the Tycondo team of Agago County, which has been confirmed as among many of his commitments.




Lagen David is sponsoring over ten students at Gulu University who are now pursuing different courses. The students, parents, guardians, and electorates have welcomed Hon. Lagen’s support with heartfelt gratitude, recognizing the impact it will create on the future of the students, including academic improvement and morale value. He has been ranked among the current best-performing MPs in Acholi Sub-region, along with Hon. Minister Onek Hillary, Hon. Gilbert Olanya of Kilak South County, Ojara Marthin Mpenduzi of Bardege-Layibi Division, and Hon. Betty Aol Ocan of Gulu City, simply because of their respective personal donations and contributions to the members of their different societies.




When contacted by our reporter about endorsement by NRM delegates, he said 2026 is still a long way to go, therefore, people endorsing candidates should not do so in haste before 2026. Hon. Lagen said, “We shall cross the bridge when we get there.”

Lagen has renewed his vows to continue making generous contributions to market vendor groups, supporting the youth, and forgiving whoever has been circulating propaganda about him as far as politics in Agago is concerned.

Hon. David Lagen’s dedication to empowering the youth and promoting community engagement is witnessed through his acts of kindness towards supporting athletes and sports lovers from Agago County, more so in shaping the future of young athletes to showcase their talents, determination, and sportsmanship.




In an extensive interview with the Ankole Times newspaper, he recently mentioned that walking tractors were donated to Agago under their struggle as members of Parliament and cautioned that the tractors should benefit the farmers of Agago County without any segregation.

In his capacity as area MP, Hon. Atuka has relieved the people of Adilang Sub-County from the headache caused by over ten stray elephants and buffalo recently by tasking UWA management to drive them back to Kidepo Valley National Park.

Lagen David Atuka is striving to upgrade Patongo Health Centre and, above all, Patongo Town Council to attain municipality status.




Agago County has over eight aspirants contesting under the NRM party to go to Parliament, including the former MP Otto Edward Makmot, among others.
