Over 150 people have been forcefully evicted by an armed UPDF officer and a suspected land grabber called Haji Ali Kafumbe Mpungu in Wabutungulu zone, Kyetume Parish, Zirobwe, Luwero district.

According to our sources, Major Lumala Siraje, who claims to be from Bombo barracks and armed with a pistol, and the director of Intercontinental Company in Kanyanya, Haji Ali Mpungu Kafumbe, demolished people’s houses using a grader.

Those evicted include a landlord who is a title holder, Babumba Godfrey, who complains that he was tortured and arrested by the police from the Flying Squad unit on Ref. 15/26/11/2022 and forced to hand over his land title to Haji Mpungu at CPS Kampala.

The residents complained that Major Lumala Siraje threatened them by pointing a pistol at the bibanja holders as their houses were being demolished and crops destroyed by a grader brought by Haji Ali Mpungu Kafumbe.

The residents now want high-profile UPDF officials in charge of discipline to bring the errant UPDF major to order as they claim the grader impounded by the police was released under unclear circumstances.

They now want the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) to investigate the matter thoroughly in Luwero.

One of the occupants on the said land who spoke on condition of anonymity added that he might be killed by the UPDF officer and has called upon the Office of the President and the CDF to arrest the UPDF officer who seems to be above the rule of law in this country.
