The spokesperson of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, Steven Masiga, has said that many Bamasaaba have openly appreciated the Government of Uganda for fulfilling its pledges, especially the recent provision of official vehicles to Umukuka III, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma.
Speaking to this publication, Rt. Hon. Dr. Paul Mwambu, the Prime Minister of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, stated that the Government has always shown goodwill towards the Bamasaaba people through various initiatives, including its latest support for the cultural institution.
“I am happy that the Ministry of Gender invited me to witness this milestone at Kololo,” Dr. Mwambu said.
Hon. Andrew Masaba, Minister for Finance in the cultural institution, expressed his gratitude to the Government and said they will now redirect funds initially allocated for the Umukuka’s fleet to other pressing needs in line with their strategic plan.
Mr. Stephen Wambalo, Headmaster of Mbale High School, also welcomed the Government’s commitment to the Umukuka and Bukuka institutions.
Hon. Irene Manghali, an appointee of the Umukuka and former Deputy RDC of Manafwa, expressed her joy and ululated in celebration of the Government’s gesture.
Members of the Umukuka III Forum also shared their appreciation.
Mr. Wadamba said, “We thank the Government for everything it is doing for our Umuguga.”
Mr. Wakubona Gard Makuyi reported seeing the Umukuka’s official vehicles in Lugazi, calling it proof that the Government had indeed fulfilled its promise.
Ms. Sarah Kisolo, another forum member, congratulated His Highness and thanked the Government for its support.
Mr. Samuel Wambuya described the Umukuka as “the lion of Masaabaland.”
Mr. Napokoli Sakwa, chairman of the Busiu clan, speaking on behalf of other clan chairpersons, appreciated the Government for this significant mobility gesture.
Hon. Andrew Wanyoto, Cabinet Secretary of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, also extended his thanks to the Government and wished both President Yoweri Museveni and His Highness the Umukuka good health.
When contacted by Daily Express, Steven Masiga, as spokesperson of the cultural institution, welcomed the widespread appreciation being expressed by Bamasaaba across the region.
He stated, “We thank the Government and President Museveni for honoring their pledges. Historically, Government has played a big role in supporting the Bamasaaba.”
He added that the Government had pledged to provide the Umukuka with military guards, official vehicles, and monthly emoluments — all of which have now been fulfilled.
“We have also received funds for several projects, such as the construction of the cultural center. We sincerely appreciate the Government for living up to its promises. There are more developments coming to Masaabaland—just wait and see,” Masiga concluded.
