Mityana Teacher and Baby Found Dead in Fumigated Room

In the central region district of Mityana, police are conducting an investigation into the untimely deaths of Teopista Namiiro, a 25-year-old primary school teacher at St Kizito Primary School in Busunju, and her eight-month-old baby boy, Alvin Muwanguzi.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at Kanyale village, Namugavu Parish, Kikandwa Sub-county, Mityana District.

According to Ms. Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Regional Police spokesperson, preliminary findings suggest that the room where the deceased were found is adjacent to a produce (cereals) storage area owned by Mr. Juma Ssentongo.

Mr. Ssentongo is alleged to have used 20 dissolving fumigation tablets on Tuesday, September 26, in an attempt to safeguard his stored maize from rodent damage. Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
