Bishop Mbitse Mourns Passing of Minister Sarah Mateke

The Bishop of Muhabura diocese, Godfrey Mbitse, has eulogized Minister Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke as a hardworking advocate for religion, health, and education, as well as a champion of gender equality in Kisoro district.

In an interview with The Ankole Times Reporter held in his home in Kisoro Municipality, Bishop Godfrey Mbitse expressed his condolences to the people of Muhabura diocese for the loss of a political leader, Sarah Mateke, who was humble and respected by all, regardless of age or physical appearance.

Bishop Mbitse further noted that Minister Mateke was a dedicated leader in promoting health, education (as the founder of Metropolitan International University), and gender equality.




He called upon the people of Kisoro to pray for the family of Phillimon Mateke for the passing away of their public figure who had made significant contributions to the political landscape of Kisoro district.

Bishop Mbitse quoted “United we stand, divided we fall” as one of Sarah Mateke’s memorable statements.
