Bobi Wine, the President of the opposition National Unity Platform, made a significant revelation concerning the situation of detained members of his party. Despite facing numerous obstacles, including being blocked from visiting them, Bobi Wine and other leaders managed to visit their comrades at Kitalya Mini-Max Prison this afternoon.
During the visit, the detained members reportedly disclosed troubling information. They claimed that they had been approached multiple times by officials of the current regime, who allegedly urged them to falsely implicate themselves and Bobi Wine in various crimes. These officials purportedly offered promises of freedom, money, and even houses in exchange for compliance.
According to Bobi Wine, the detained individuals were led to believe that they would be released once they agreed to implicate themselves and him. However, he emphasized the manipulative tactics of President Museveni’s government and warned the detainees to exercise caution in dealing with such offers.
Despite facing immense pressure, Bobi Wine expressed gratitude that, thus far, all of the detainees had refused to falsely implicate themselves or him in any wrongdoing. He commended their resilience in the face of oppression and persecution, urging them to remain steadfast in their convictions.
According to the party secretary, the visit to Kitalya Mini-Max Prison served as an opportunity for Bobi Wine and other leaders to offer support and encouragement to their detained comrades. It highlighted the importance of solidarity and unity within the opposition movement, particularly in challenging times marked by alleged coercion and intimidation.
Bobi Wine and his allies reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for justice, fairness, and democracy in Uganda. They vowed to stand by their principles and fight against any attempts to silence dissent or undermine the democratic process as the situation continues to unfold.
