Dr. James Buturo Speaks Out on Sanctions and Foreign Agenda Against Uganda

Bufumbira East legislator Dr. James Buturo Nsaba has publicly acknowledged facing sanctions since the enactment of the anti-homosexuality act. The former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, a member of the 11th Parliament, was instrumental in passing the bill on May 2nd, 2023, which was subsequently signed into law by President Yoweri Museveni on May 26th.

Buturo, speaking as the guest of honor at a fundraising event for choirs under the Diocese of Muhabura at St. Andrew’s Seseme Cathedral on Saturday, December 28, 2024, detailed the challenges he faces due to his stance on foreign policies.

The enactment of the anti-homosexuality act drew widespread criticism from human rights defenders within Uganda and abroad. Several foreign countries, including the United States, responded with measures such as suspending aid to Uganda and imposing sanctions on certain individuals.

Dr. Buturo, without citing specific documentation, revealed that he has faced sanctions from countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada since the law’s passage. He expressed gratitude to God for his strength in the face of these external pressures.

He urged the church to uphold cultural norms and values, actively preach against policies that undermine these values, and emphasize the importance of liberation among believers.

“USA, UK, Canada, Australia. They listed me as a person against their policies. But God touched me, and I stood firm,” Buturo stated.

Buturo also addressed foreign interventions aimed at weakening African nations. He cited concerns about genetically modified seeds, the use of fertilizers and other chemicals in agriculture, and their potential impact on soil fertility and food quality.

He alleged that these measures are part of a broader effort to undermine African populations. Furthermore, he claimed that some vaccines contain harmful components designed to cause health problems such as infertility among Africans.

Buturo asserted that these actions align with a “new world order” agenda aimed at diverting Africans from their faith in God.

“Foreigners aren’t good. They’ve used all means to weaken Africans and ensure they deviate from God. They have introduced vaccines, genetically modified seeds, LGBTQ, and exploited our resources. We must stand against them,” Buturo added.

He expressed deep concern over the various social and economic problems plaguing Uganda, including corruption, embezzlement, and alcoholism, while criticizing the lack of action from some leaders who are aware of these issues.

Buturo called upon all capable and knowledgeable individuals to actively resist this perceived “new world order” being imposed by foreign entities.
