Golfers Flagged Off by Absa Bank Uganda for 2024 Magical Kenya Open

Absa Bank Uganda has announced its sponsorship of ten golfers from Uganda who will participate in the Pro-Am event of the 2024 Magical Kenya Open. The ceremony, held at Absa Bank Uganda, marked the official send-off of the golfing contingent set to compete at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi from 21st to 25th February.

The team, comprising one professional and nine amateurs, earned their spots through exceptional performances in the Absa-sponsored Pro-Am tournament of the 2023 Uganda Golf Open. Absa will cover flights, accommodation, and expenses for the qualifying amateurs and selected clients, while the professional golfer will receive financial support for travel and tournament participation.




Michael Segwaya, Executive Director of Absa Bank Uganda, expressed pride in Uganda’s golf community and reaffirmed Absa’s commitment to supporting their professional development. He emphasized Absa’s dedication to advancing golf in Uganda and empowering local talent on the international stage.




The golfers include Michael K. Musiime, Paul Habyarimana, Ivan Arinaitwe, Patricia Mbabazi, Emma Tayebwa, Wendy Angu’deyo, Michael Tumusiime, Alex Mango, and Bob Matsiko. The amateurs will compete in the Pro-Am event on 21st February, while Ronald Rugumayo, the professional golfer, will participate in the men’s professional tournament from 22nd to 25th February.




Rugumayo, qualifying for the tournament for the second consecutive year, expressed confidence in his performance and gratitude to Absa Bank Uganda for their continued support. He highlighted his dedication to representing Uganda and striving for success in the competition.
