Businessman Hammis Kiggundu Honored with Professional Doctorate in Dubai

Members of the Kwagalana Group, a collective of Kampala’s leading entrepreneurs, have extended their congratulations to Kiggundu. Godfrey Kirumira, the Namibia Honorary Consul to Uganda and chairman of the Kwagalana Group, praised Kiggundu for setting a positive example for the younger generation.

DUBAI – Hammis Kiggundu, a prominent businessman from Kampala, has been awarded a Professional Doctorate in Global Leadership and Management by the European International University (EIU). The award ceremony took place on June 29, 2024, during the 11th International Excellence and Global Leadership Awards at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The event, organized by the Dei Group, recognized several individuals from various professions for their contributions to business and leadership. Kiggundu was accompanied by his uncle, Edward Nakibinge, the general manager of Ham Enterprises. The award was presented to him by Edward Roy Krishnan, the director general of the Paris-based university.




At 40 years old, Kiggundu is celebrated as one of Uganda’s youngest and most successful entrepreneurs. He has made significant strides in real estate, trade, and other sectors, earning recognition for his achievements and leadership.




In a statement on social media, Kiggundu expressed his gratitude, saying, “I have been honored with a Doctorate in Global Leadership and Management from the European International University of Paris, France. I feel so humbled. For God and My Country.”




Kiggundu’s accomplishments include authoring two books, “Success and Failure Based on Reason and Reality” and “Reason as the World Masterpiece.” Recently, he launched a multi-billion project to renovate the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, bringing it up to international standards in collaboration with the Ugandan government.

Kirumira described Kiggundu as a talented, wise, and generous individual who deeply cares for his community and country. He highlighted Kiggundu’s recent launch of the Hamz Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility that has created jobs and contributed to the country’s economic development.




During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kiggundu demonstrated his commitment to the community by donating significant funds to support those affected by the lockdown and by leading a campaign to raise awareness about the virus.

Before receiving his award in Dubai, Kiggundu attended the 76th birthday celebration for Uganda’s First Lady, Mama Janet Museveni, at the UWESO Children Village in Masuliita, Wakiso District. He contributed 100 million Ugandan shillings towards UWESO’s activities, expressing his support for the First Lady’s mission to assist vulnerable children in Uganda.

Kirumira affirmed the continued support of the Kwagalana Group for Kiggundu’s initiatives, emphasizing their collective pride in his achievements.




Several other professionals were also recognized with doctorates at the event.
