Nexus Green has initiated a Business-to-Business (B2B) campaign in Uganda, with a focus on promoting renewable energy solutions. The campaign launch event took place at the Summit Residences in Naguru, an upmarket luxury apartment hotel. The campaign, spearheaded by Baroness Verma, former United Kingdom Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development and the chairperson of Nexus Green Limited, aimed to highlight the importance of renewable energy for the African continent.

Baroness Verma emphasized the significance of renewable energy for Africa, given its abundant natural resources like solar power. She stressed that energy costs are a major factor globally and that businesses could benefit from reducing these costs while also contributing to job creation and skill development.

The B2B campaign launch event was organized by Tarun Rikki Verma, Chief Executive and founder of Nexus Green, and his wife Ashely Verma, and it was hosted at the Summit Residences in Naguru, a flagship customer of Nexus Green, where a 200-kilowatt per hour solar system was installed to support their electricity supply.

Nexus Green recently secured multi-billion contracts from the Ugandan government to supply solar power to the Defence ministry and install solar-powered irrigation systems for the agriculture sector in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Environment. The objective of these contracts is to provide businesses with stable and cost-effective energy solutions.

The launch event saw the presence of important dignitaries, including the United Kingdom deputy Trade Commissioner for Africa, Jaya Choraria, the Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Water and Environment, Alfred Okidi Okot, Uganda Investment Authority Director General Robert Mukiza, and businessman Patrick Bitature, among others.

Baroness Verma mentioned the importance of moving towards “Net Zero,” which involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions as close to zero as possible, and highlighted Nexus Green’s role in this transition. The company aims to contribute to sustainability and progress through its dynamic campaigns and initiatives, including a collaboration with Jinko Solar, a major player in the solar industry.

PS Okidi emphasized the vulnerability of Uganda to climate change and the need to adapt to its impacts. He acknowledged Nexus Green’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing the country’s environmental footprint.

Mukiza, on behalf of the Uganda Investment Authority, stressed the importance of increasing land production through solar-powered irrigation for predictable agriculture and economic development in Uganda.
