Singer Bebe Cool, also known as Big Size, recently disclosed his real reason for hosting concerts at Kampala Serena Hotel. He stated that despite the public perception of his shows there as profitable, he has never made a single penny from them.
Bebe Cool, known for his penchant for the spotlight, sees Serena Hotel as a platform for building prestige rather than generating income. In contrast, Kiwatule serves as his primary source of earnings.
During an interview on television, Bebe Cool explained, “After my shows at Kampala Serena Hotel, people would hound me for money thinking I had made a killing, which was wrong. I make more money from Kiwatule than I have ever made at Serena Hotel.”
The practice of local artists holding concerts at Kampala Serena Hotel is seen as a mark of prestige, with attendees paying over sh100,000 for an ordinary ticket. Bebe Cool, however, has clarified that this prestigious venue is more about enhancing his brand, while Kiwatule remains his main revenue-generating location.
To date, Bebe Cool has organized four concerts at Serena Hotel, with his well-known “Tondeka e Kiwatule” concerts making a return after the Covid-19 lockdown.
