Martin Ssempa, renowned Pastor of Makerere Community Church and a figure known for his staunch views on moral issues, took to social media to celebrate American Independence Day 2024 in his own unique style.

Unlike the elaborate military parades and lengthy political speeches common in African countries, Ssempa emphasized the simplicity of American celebrations, highlighting his family’s day out at Cape Cod, proudly sporting a Uganda-themed T-shirt.

In a series of posts , the pastor highlighted his day spent on the historic beaches of Cape Cod, a place he referred to as a vacation spot fit for American founding fathers Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Sporting his Uganda T-shirt, he mingled with locals and tourists alike, becoming a walking advertisement for Ugandan culture in the festive American atmosphere.

Unlike the military parades and lengthy political speeches typical of many African Independence Day celebrations, Pastor Ssempa emphasized the joyous family-centric nature of American holidays. He delighted in strolling along Cape Cod’s shoreline with his wife, son, and daughter, immersing himself in the relaxed ambiance of the oldest beach in the United States.

The ‘man of Gad’  seized every opportunity to promote Uganda, fielding inquiries from intrigued Americans about the Pearl of Africa. His presence in Uganda-branded attire sparked conversations about Ugandan football, cultural heritage, and the allure of visiting the country.

Reflecting on his experience, Pastor Ssempa pondered how more Ugandans could enjoy such enriching experiences abroad. He encouraged his followers, including prominent Ugandan personalities like Amos Wekesa and Patrick Idringi, to continue promoting Uganda globally.
