Apac , Uganda – Following the election held on Friday for the paramount chief of the Lango Cultural Foundation, different dignitaries across the world have welcomed the election of Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul as the new Won Nyaci of Lango.
Rwot David Onen Acana is among those who have congratulated Ogwang Okul on his successful election to the throne. Acana called for peace and unity among Lango leaders.
Muzee Yosam Odur also welcomed the electoral results, stating that he will invite the president to attend his handover ceremony, which will be announced soon.
Odur further appealed to his subjects and counterparts from other regions to ignore any cultural activities being performed by other groups with different cultural settings.
However, reports indicate that Lango people living in the diaspora are also celebrating the electoral results.
Currently, the issue of Lango cultural leadership is in court to find an amicable solution.
Ogwang Okul contested against three other candidates and emerged as the winner of the hotly contested election under the Lango Cultural Foundation.
