Ambassador Amoru Presents Credentials to Botswana’s President

Paul Amoru, Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, has formally presented his letters of credence to Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi in Gaborone, the capital city.

In a statement from Uganda’s High Commission in Pretoria, the event was described as a moment of diplomatic significance and solemn reflection.




Amoru conveyed warm regards from President Yoweri Museveni, emphasizing the enduring relationship between Uganda and Botswana.




The ceremony commenced with a tribute to Namibia’s late President Hage Geingob, followed by President Masisi’s warm welcome to Ambassador Amoru.




Discussions during the ceremony highlighted collaboration opportunities between Botswana and Uganda, including addressing the current foot and mouth disease outbreak in Uganda and potential partnerships in the dairy industry and animal health technology transfer.

President Masisi’s recent visit to Uganda underscored the robust bilateral relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Amoru expressed gratitude for Botswana’s support to Ugandan nationals and officially presented the letters of recall for his predecessor and his own letters of credence.




The event concluded with a commitment to strengthen bilateral ties through the establishment of a joint commission for cooperation, focusing initially on agriculture.

This ceremony marks a significant step in deepening diplomatic relations between Botswana and Uganda, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual benefit.

Amoru serves as Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Eswatini.
