Chinese Students Discover Ugandan Culture

The Uganda Embassy in Beijing has hosted a cultural exchange program for Chinese students to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of Ugandan culture and heritage. The initiative, led by Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, aims to strengthen ties between Uganda and China by providing Chinese students with a firsthand experience of Ugandan traditions, history, and way of life.

On Monday, July 22, the embassy opened its doors to a group of Chinese students who participated in a series of activities, including traditional Ugandan and Chinese dance and music performances. The students also engaged in interactive sessions that showcased Ugandan cuisine and local customs. Additionally, they had insightful discussions on the rich history and biodiversity of Uganda.




Ambassador Wonekha expressed her delight in hosting the students, stating, “It is essential to engage in cultural exchange programs like this to bridge the gap between our two nations and promote mutual understanding and friendship.”




The Chinese students shared their positive experiences about the program, expressing gratitude and eagerness to learn more about Uganda’s vibrant culture and traditions. An officer at the Beijing embassy remarked, “The cultural exchange program at the Uganda Embassy in Beijing is a testament to Uganda’s and China’s shared commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and promoting cultural diplomacy between the two nations.”
