Busoga Cooperative Leader Charged with Stealing Over UGX 4 Billion

This afternoon, Basoga Charles, Chairperson of the Busoga Growers Cooperative Union, was presented before the Anti-Corruption Court. The charges against him include causing financial loss and conspiring to defraud the government of over UGX 4 billion.

The accusations state that between 2018 and 2023, Basoga Charles, along with others who remain unidentified, engaged in a scheme to defraud the government of Uganda. The funds in question were intended for war loss compensation for the Busoga Growers Cooperative Union.




Following his arraignment, Charles has been remanded in custody and will return to court on August 1, 2024.
