Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke has taken the oath to serve as a member of the Judicial Service Commission. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala on February 20, 2024, was presided over by Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, signifying the official induction of Justice Musoke into her new role.
Lady Justice Musoke’s appointment to the Judicial Service Commission comes as a representative of the Judiciary, following her nomination by the President. She succeeds the late Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko, assuming responsibility for representing the Judiciary’s interests within the Commission.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by prominent figures within the judiciary, including the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Justice Benjamin Kabito, and Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu. Additionally, members of the Commission, such as Ruth Sebatindira, Norah Matovu Muwanika, Johnson Bitarabeho, Jimmy Okello, and Badru Lubega Wagwa, were present to witness Justice Musoke’s induction.
Established under Article 146 of the constitution, the Judicial Service Commission serves as a vital constitutional body responsible for recruiting judicial officers and regulating their conduct. Comprising nine members, the Commission plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of justice administration throughout Uganda.
