A businessman identified as Male Nicholus has been remanded to Luzira Prison after appearing before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of forgery and uttering false documents. He will remain in custody until November 17, 2025.

According to the prosecution, Male allegedly forged a document dated August 15, 2025, which he claimed had been signed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The letter, addressed to the Minister of Works and Transport, reportedly directed that the contract of Nation Oil Distributors Limited be renewed for another 15 years to continue managing the MV Kalangala vessel.

Investigators say Male presented the fake document to the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and the offices of Nation Oil Distributors Limited in Ndeba.

It is further alleged that before delivering the forged letter, Male had approached the Director of Nation Oil Distributors Limited, introducing himself as an official attached to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM). He claimed to have connections with top government officials and promised to help the company secure the renewal of the MV Kalangala management contract.

Male denied the allegations, but the court declined to grant him bail and ordered that he be remanded pending further investigations.
